For ten performers, objects and various materials

MAMA is a sound action conceived for the Museo comunale d’arte moderna and realized with a group of nonprofessional volunteers from Ascona and the Locarno region. Ten performers, positioned across the museum’s two floors around the central courtyard, create sound events using daily-life objects – glasses, bottles, branches, leaves, water, sand – and more. They form a constellation of micro-scenes distributed across four terraces and two windows, following a sequence that mirrors the museum’s architectural layout. Sound, space, time: the museum itself becomes a grand instrument, and around
the audience gathered below on the ground floor, MAMA breathes like a living sculpture.
